"Winter in Southhampton" by Bruce Lewis
I enjoy capturing a moment in time and freezing it forever, thus creating something that is visually engaging. Sometimes I carefully choose my subject but other times my subjects choose me. Many times I also like to return to the same location throughout a day to explore how the suns’ rays have changed the look and feel of a certain composition. Through my abilities in Photo Shop I feel I’m also able to take my Landscapes, Nature and Portrait photography to another level.
It was ten years ago when I was drawn from thirty-two years of developing a feel for slide and black and white film in the world of conventional photography, into that of digital imaging using a full-frame Canon 5DMk II, one with a 24mm to 105mm the other with 200mm & 400mm prime lenses. I‘ve revisited many of my favorite locations since turning to the digital format and have been able to re-capture them in a way that goes beyond what the standard, 35MM was capable of. Each outing with my cameras is a new experience in exploration and excitement.
I have discovered great beauty in local conservation parks that exist just twenty five kilometers from my home. Locations like, Crawford Lake, Hilton Falls, and the butterfly Conservatory in Cambridge, contain a wide array of stunning subjects and compositions. As an extension of my love for the outdoors and the game itself I enjoy photographing the layouts and architecture of various golf courses.
